Painting fulfills me, it helps me relax and express my emotions and identity, it enables me to find my place in this world. I started painting during a dark time in my life. My home country was being bombarded. Living abroad, I feared for the people I loved and cherished. There was so much sadness, so much fear, so much pain…I needed a way to escape it, a path that would lead me back up. Painting was what kept me afloat and helped me find my strength.
The bombarding occurred fourteen years ago and yet I still paint. There is a sensation of resurrection and enlightenment every time I finish a painting. I am able to deliver happiness, peace and harmony through brush strokes on a canvas. Is there anything more satisfying than being able to offer a view of splendor and rebirth, of a new life that promises a better future? I search for beauty and perfection in everything that surrounds me, as I do in my paintings. I want to capture the beauty I see in the world and showcase what I see as the perfection in nature.
Every stroke of the brush is more than that. It brings texture to the canvas… an irregular surface of ups and downs that represents the flow of our life. Every stroke of the brush creates depth, bringing the motifs of the painting to life. The flowing motions of the brush create solid imprints that leave scars of color, incised in the memory of the canvas just like our scars and our memories make us who we are as people and human beings.
